Dillon & Mathew are from West Warwick, RI and they’ve been engaged since March 5, 2007. Here’s why Mathew thinks they should win the NBC10 Free Wedding Giveaway:
“We had talked about marriage many time before we became engaged. I knew from the time that I first told her that I loved her, that she would be in my life forever. I mere month after we began seriously dating, I moved to San Diego, CA for 9 months. She stood by, and waited for me, 3500 miles away for those nine months and when I came back, it was like we didn’t miss a beat. I knew that there could never be another girl for me. Her spirit, positive outlook on life, and fresh take on each day truly inspires me to continue to better myself, and our relationship each day. We were engaged in March and began planning our wedding. Soon after, in July 2007, we became pregnant. Our wedding plans screeched to a halt as we were now preparing to welcome our first child into the world. A month or so before we became pregnant, I had been laid off from work, and Dillon was working at finishing school. I did my best to find work that would sucessfully support my soon-to-be family and after 4 months, was able to return to my previous employer as a full time worker. Our planning for baby put the wedding on the backburner, and we both agreed to focus on getting situated before we worried about the marriage. Fast forward to September 2008, we find ourselves with a beautiful and healthy 5 1/2 month old baby boy, and mere days away from closing on the purchase of our first home. I know I want to spend the rest of my life with Dillon, and I know that she feels the same. My job causes me to travel frequently, and Dillon has begun working an overnight shift at one of the area hospitals. We are doing everything we can to make sure our son is safe and secure and will grow up with a solid home structure. But with opposite work schedules, the threat of an unstable economy and the lack of disposable income, our dreams of planning a wedding have since been reduced to ‘going down to city hall and getting married by a J.O.P. or an attorney’”
